Motherwell have reportedly rejected a £200,000 bid from Celtic for goalkeeper Trevor Carson, as Brendan Rodgers looks for a new keeper after Craig Gordon was ruled out for three months.

Third choice keeper Conor Hazard was loaned out to Falkirk leaving just Dorus de Vries as the only fit senior keeper at the club, so Rodgers has made his move on fellow Northern Irishman Carson.

However, the offer was short of Motherwell’s valuation and it is expected that Celtic will come in again with a second offer despite the Fir Park side’s unwillingness to sell their keeper with days remaining.

Carson joined Motherwell this summer from Hartlepool and has made 28 appearances for Stephen Robinson’s side.
